A Deeper Understanding About Over-The-Counter Drug Test

Over the counter drug test has many uses, it can be used for a pre-employment drug test, for children or teenagers if you are suspecting any drug abuse and for employers who want to make sure that their current employees are not into drugs. They would usually turn to over-the counter drug testing kits to confirm their initial suspicion and hope for the best.

If you plan to use this type of drug testing, one must be very familiar with the methods of detecting drug abuse because it will help you get the most appropriate kit for the job. To identify a specific substance that is being abused,  a person has to study and learn about drug tests and specific drugs. There are three types of over the counter drug test. Those classifications are the urine test, saliva swab test and the hair test.

Urine drug test is the most common type of over the counter drug test because traces of the drugs are left in the body and exits through the excretory system. They provide instant results without the need of going to a lab to have the urine analyzed. The only downside of this test is it necessitates a witness to confirm that the urine sample is really yours and not anybody else’s.

Since a saliva swab test is a less invasive method, most people prefer this drug testing kit even though it’s new in the market. Once one is suspected of drug use, it is better to utilize this over-the-counter drug test immediately because of the limited time it can determine the drug that has been taken. However, it can be difficult to control because it has limitations in finding out the quantity, and the time and type of drug is being tested for.

The last over-the-counter drug test is the hair test. It is the most accurate test but it is also the most time consuming since the samples have to be analyzed by a lab. A hair test can determine what specific illegal substance was taken and how long the subject is addicted to these prohibited drugs.

Different methods to detect if you are using prohibited drugs and a person who uses them must be capable of confronting the consequences of the results. Whether the tests come out negative or positive, you must always keep in mind that illegal substances should not be abused because in the long run you will be the one to confront all the problems it can bring.
