Choosing Cross Stitch Frames

Old-fashioned cross stitch frames are quite pricey and they usually need a long time to complete. However, there are other options when it comes to framing your stitched artwork and you don't have to spend a fortune or wait for a long time to see your finished projects.

The following are some one-of-a-kind cross stitch frames you can choose from:

* Photo frames make the best options if you are looking for fast and inexpensive replacements for conventional cross stitch frames. Photo frames are also great for keeping your needlecraft clean.

You might find similar themes of photo frames to go with your cross stitch. Some may also have accompanying mat and decoration. But if you wish to personalize your frame, you can purchase a plain picture frame and scrapbook embellishments to decorate it. It is also a great idea to glue some tiny decorations and beads on the photo frame if you don't want to spend additional cash.

* Photo albums are also great to use as cross stitch frames.  The small openings on the cover and the pages of these albums allow you to slip your cross stitch artworks. Showing your finished works at the same time is easy when you use a photo album.

* Other great alternatives are shadow boxes. It looks similar to a picture frame but it has a larger space in between the frame and the glass which allows you slip in some small extra items. You can add trimmings to your work provided that they can fit into the opening and space inside.

* Hoop frames - These also make good substitutes for cross stitch frames because they vary in sizes and shapes. It is also possible to put trimmings to make your work more unique. Select hoop frames without glass cover if you have added trimmings to your finished work.

* Mini sample patterns - These are typically not framed and they can be used as part of another item's trim such as table linens, pillow cases, and others.

Preserving your cross stitch artworks does not have to be expensive. No need to be stuck at old-fashioned cross stitch frames as well. If you want to see your finished artwork without waiting for ages, just be patient in looking for substitutes to help you save money and time.
